Animated GPS Mirror
How does it work?

The GPS Mirror uses the Trinity database, which contains details of dangerous intersections and high risk accident locations. These areas are designated by police and government bodies, often by the placement of safety cameras.

The GPS Mirror receives signals from the network of 24 Global Positioning System satellites orbiting the earth, and uses the latest SIRF Star III GPS technology to determine where you are at any given moment.

When approaching a location that is stored in the Trinity database, the mirror provides spoken and audible warnings to advise you that you are approaching a hazard area or red light camera intersection.

There are 4 buttons under the mirror that are used to program the unit for things like storing your own GPS locations. For example, maybe you routinely drive through a dangerous intersection that you want to mark so that the mirror alerts you when you drive through it again. You can also set the mirror to warn you when you exceed speeds that you have programmed into the mirror.

Your GPS mirror will come pre-loaded with U.S.A. camera locations in its memory, but downloading the most current database is recommended every 60 days or so. Cable with USB port is included.

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

1. How large is the GPS antenna, and how do I mount it on my car?

A: The antenna is very small, less than 2" x 2" in size. Simply attach it behind the GPS Mirror, to the inside of your windshield via the included Velcro pad. The antenna has an adhesive backing. Alternatively, if you have a vehicle with an Athermic windscreen (designed to block heat), you may find that you need an extension cable to mount your GPS anteena elsewhere. But first try it out as is. Most cars with Athermic windshields do not have the coating on the area behind the rear mirror, in order to allow for electronic toll passes, etc. If you do find that you need an extension cable, contact DMI via our "Contact Us" form and we'll arrange to get you one.

2. How do I update the GPS memory locations for accident warning zones and speed traps?

A: You just need a PC with Microsoft Windows (98SE and up), a USB port, a Serial RS-232 port, and an Internet connection. Sorry, but the system does not support Mac computers.

3. How is the GPS Mirror powered?

A: Your GPS Mirror kit will come with a power cord which plugs into your cig lighter / accessory power connector. It is possible to hard-wire your mirror to your vehicle's electrical system, however this requires also installing a 3 amp in-line fuse.
